Q:        When is the last day of NTI for students?
A:         Thursday, May 14, 2020

Q:        How will assignments be collected at the end of NTI?
A:         Assignments may be turned in any Tuesday or Friday during meal pickup from 11am until 1pm at our elementary schools.  On Friday, May 15, our buses will run throughout the county as they did at the beginning of COVID-19 and provide meal service and pick up last assignments.  All assignments must be turned in by the end of the day Friday, May 15.

Q:        When will student transcripts and report cards be printed?
A:         Beginning Tuesday, May 26, 2020 our school staff will review data submitted and finalize it in Infinite Campus.  Pickup and mail dates for these items will be announced closer to time.

Q:       I left items behind at school. How do I pick those up?
A:       Our teachers will be coming into school to locate and label any student belongings or unique work that students might want.  It will be labeled with the student’s name.

Q:       I have items that belong to the school such as textbooks, library books, or technology that was loaned during COVID-19. When and how should I return those items to school?
A:       Place the items in a box or sturdy bag depending on what you are returning and label it with your name, grade, teacher’s name if it was loaned by a teacher, and school name.  You can bring it when you pick up your belongings or bring it to the bus that will be traveling on May 15 to collect last minute assignment submissions.

Q:        What about seniors who will need credit recovery in order to receive a diploma?
A:         Our high schools are preparing a list and the district will work with the student to overcome any barriers to finishing.

Q:        Can students use the weight room, field house, and other practice locations for fall
sports?
A:        Once the state has entered phase two of reopening we will work with the Knox County Health Department and KHSAA to determine the next steps. Until then, there should not be any group practice and our facilities should remain locked.

Q:        What about the summer feeding program?  Will KCPS provide meals like we have been doing and have done in past summers?
A:         The last meal that KCPS will prepare will be Friday, May 15.  KCEOC is prepared to provide meal service beginning Monday, May 18.

Q:        What about seniors?  (Caps, gowns, honors, graduation, diplomas, etc.)
A:         Each high school is working on plans now for our Class of 2020.  We will recognize the accomplishments of the Class of 2020 as they have demonstrated many characteristics of our Portrait of a Graduate in the past two months of school that would normally take a lifetime to understand.
