Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council

Since taking office in 2013, Superintendent Sprinkles has relied on students to share information with him on academics and culture in their schools.   The Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council is “my favorite group to meet with,” according to Superintendent Sprinkles.  “The students are very open about what they think and offer suggestions on how to make their schools better.”

The Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council will meet with Superintendent Kelly Sprinkles to discuss how decisions made at the school and district level are affecting students throughout the county. Members serve as liaisons between Superintendent Sprinkles, the Knox County Board of Education, and the students of Knox County.

All 6th, 8th, 10th, and 12th-grade students are eligible to apply.

Term of Service

Students on the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council during the 2019-2020 school year will serve a term of one year.

Meetings are tentatively set to occur once every two months.  Meetings will be scheduled in advance and most meetings will occur during the school day.

How to Apply

Applications are now being accepted for the 2020-2021 school year.  Due to COVID-19, meetings may be virtual, hybrid, or in-person depending on the status of the virus in Knox County.  Students will have the opportunity to choose their setting if they, or their family, feel uncomfortable in an in-person setting.
