Student Ambassador to the Superintendent

AMBASSADOR: 

Definition: a diplomatic agent of the highest rank accredited to a foreign government or sovereign as the resident representative of his or her own government or sovereign or appointed for a special and often temporary diplomatic assignment. (Merriam-Webster)

STUDENT AMBASSADOR:

Definition: a student representative appointed to meet with the Superintendent as his or her school’s messenger. The student will join other student ambassadors to discuss education and youth interests in Knox County. (KCPS)

Eligibility

All 6th, 8th, 10th, and 12th-grade students are eligible to apply.  There are no other special qualifications in order to apply.

Term of Service

Students selected will serve a term of one year.

Selection

A minimum of one student will be selected to represent each school (or if not enough applications are received, school district area).  A minimum of two representatives will be selected at the high school level.

When

Meetings are tentatively set to occur each quarter.  Meetings will be scheduled in advance and most meetings will occur during the school day.

How to Apply

Applications are now being accepted for the 2021-2022 school year.  Applications are due at the end of the day on Wednesday, October 20, 2021.

Due to COVID-19, meetings may be virtual, hybrid, or in-person. Students will have the opportunity to choose their setting if they, or their family, feel uncomfortable in an in-person setting.
