Superintendent Search

Background

At the December 14, 2020 meeting of the Knox County Board of Education, Superintendent Kelly Sprinkles informed the board of his planned retirement effective at the end of June 2021.

Upon acceptance, the Board heard a presentation from the Kentucky School Boards Association (KSBA) on search services that they provide to districts.  After discussion among members, the board voted to contract with KSBA to assist with the search process.

Current Phase

On May 4, the screening committee will present to the Board five candidates out of the fifteen that applied that match the desired qualifications and traits that the Board mentioned in their charge to the committee.  The candidates will be presented by ID number order, not in order of preference.

Looking Ahead

Following the May 4 meeting, Board members will have their first opportunity to view all applications including the five recommended candidates by the screening committee.   Future meetings will be scheduled to interview candidates of the Board’s choosing.
