At the December 14, 2020 meeting of the Knox County Board of Education, Superintendent Kelly Sprinkles informed the board of his planned retirement effective at the end of June 2021.
Upon acceptance, the Board heard a presentation from the Kentucky School Boards Association (KSBA) on search services that they provide to districts. After discussion among members, the board voted to contract with KSBA to assist with the search process.
A public survey has been launched to gather stakeholder opinion on the desired knowledge, skills, and personal attributes of the next KCPS leader. All members of the Knox County community are encouraged to participate in the survey. [Take survey]
The board will conduct a work session on February 8 to review survey results and begin the process of composing a written vacancy notice for the position. The board will determine the length of the notice, with it being posted a minimum of thirty days.
As the advertising of the vacancy nears the end of the board’s selected time, the district and our KSBA facilitator will work to establish a screening committee. The board will then meet with the screening committee to discuss the details of the desired applicants. Then the screening begins.
Questions about the search process may be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org and will be answered by the appropriate person.
