Academic Competition Travel Information

For all academic, extra-curricular clubs and career and technical organizations participating in state and national level competition(s), the Board will provide assistance for the travel expenses.

In our $1 match policy, the Board of Education will match $1 for $1 up to $2,000 for travel expenses.  The match is a maximum of $2,000 per competition each fiscal/academic year.

Documents needed for student travel request and approval are on our student transportation page.

By August 15 annually, all sponsors of academic/extracurricular clubs and organizations must submit a proposed fundraiser budget form providing the Board with an estimate of how the group will raise funds for the school expense portion of the trip cost.  The sponsor will also submit a competition budget form based on actual costs that are known and estimates for other costs based on prior year expenses.

This policy includes, but is not limited to, the following school groups:
National Beta Club, National Honor Society, Performing Arts, FBLA, FCCLA, FFA, DECA, JAG, Skills USA, KYA, KUNA, Mock Trial, Biomedical and Engineering STEM events, STLP, Odyssey of the Mind, Science Olympiad, LEGO and First Robotics, Governor’s Cup, World Language, and any other conference or event in which students participate in written or performance event competitions for award.

Below are policies and forms that will assist sponsors in completing the required information.
